Thiruvasagam - Lord Shiva 13.1.5

Thiruvasagam, Tiruvacakam (Tamil: திருவாசகம் lit. "sacred utterance") is a collection of Tamil hymns authored by the ninth-century Shaivite bhakti poet Manikkavacakar. The text comprises 51 compositions and is recognized as the eighth volume of the Tirumurai, which is a revered anthology of Tamil Shaiva Siddhanta scriptures.

Though not formally included among the 63 Saiva nayanars, Manikkavasagar is considered a part of the Nalvars group, alongside the initial three nayanars: Appar, Sambandhar, and Sundharar.

We have included an English translation of Tiruvachagam by G.U. Pope, a Christian missionary who spent numerous years in Tamil Nadu translating various Tamil literary works into English. Among his well-known translations is the rendition of Tirukkural.
